About the book
When a family of Irish singers and poets becomes host to a viral genome
in the form of a prankster demon, toadstools sprout in the wilds of the
mind. Yodeling Fungus is poet Manning’s opus to placate and
exorcize “Guzman,” freeing his family from possession.

Rent-a-Family
Can we rent you our family
for the Golden Dragon Restaurant?
For your dining pleasure
we come in various configurations--
With 4 you’ll get extra egg rolls,
with 5 you’ll get bird’s nest soup.
With 6 comes hot spring noodle.
But with 7 they proclaim
The Heavenly Year of The Dragon again!
(even when it’s not the dragon’s year).
They’ll bring around the venerable Komodo
they keep penned-up in back,
with its green jade necklace and silver chain.
It will breathe its fiery breath on you
and make the blandest rice Hunan,
and your litchi nuts hot and sour.
