About the book

Many years have been invested in the writing of this book. Some poems were written in the hours between 12 midnight and daylight, or stopping along some busy highway to jot down the thoughts in my mind for another poem.

One of the greatest joys of this book is because it was time spent with the Lord, and waiting for His thoughts to fill my heart and mind. There is a poem in the book on page 136 with the title "The Secret Garden" written with my granddaughter Victoria Lauren Carter. She was about 14 when the poem was written. It is hard to tell that two people wrote the poem. Joy fills my heart to know that my granddaughter is interested in my poetry, and likes to write some as well.

I did the painting on the cover from a photo of the Edisto river near Cope, SC. You can contact me for information about other paintings.

Joel Hand from Bamberg, South Carolina did the photography on the back of the cover of the author.

Friends Forever

Passed the troubles
Life gives us on the
Way
The sweet smiles on your
Face helps me every
Day.
Wrapped up in so many
Memories that will never
End
I can't help but
think of you and call you
my friend.
When I hear your voice
I think of all the many
Things
Your kindness is always
An offering that you
Bring.
I know that time can’t
Erase the memories you
Give
I will always call you
Friend as long as I
Live,
And when my life has
Ended here on earth
Below
Up in heaven you will
Still be my friend you
Know?
