About the book
From
the golden age of shotguns and waterfowling comes the story of one of its
most fascinating characters, Fred Kimble. A must read for any duck hunting
or trap shooting enthusiast! Master duck shot, trap shooter and inventor
in the mid and late 1800's; in the 1930's Fred Kimble had a rebirth, but
the stories told were often beyond one’s imagination. In the author’s extensive
search to find the real man, he discovered the true “sportsman” and “crack
shot.” This book is the story of Fred Kimble and the grand times in which
he lived as revealed by the contemporary accounts of his life.

About the Author
John
N. Davis was born in 1959, in Vienna, Georgia. Growing up in an area
steeped in the traditions of hunting and fishing, he would find himself
forever tied to the lure of the outdoors. Davis now practices law
on the same corner of this small south Georgia town as his father and grandfather
before him. He is a member of both the Parker Gun Collectors Association
and L. C. Smith Gun Collectors Association, and has written a number of
historical articles which have appeared in each organization’s newsletter.
It was through his interest in gun collecting that his quest for Fred Kimble
began, this after he acquired a Parker shotgun previously owned by Mr.
Kimble. Although this book represents all that he has found to date
regarding the master duck hunter, Fred Kimble, the quest itself will never
end.

This is a monumental work that identifies Fred just as he was instead
of how writers identified him from previous works.

I have started reading the book, and I am enjoying it. Obviously,
the book is entertaining for a Parker person, but I am impressed by the
professionalism of the writer. Information is given in a clear way
with support to verify its authenticity.
