Walking on Stars and Water by Martina Nicholson ISBN: 978-1-931575-68-3, 106 pg, $8.00 (includes P&S) This is the second book of poems by Dr. Nicholson.  She is a practicing Ob-Gyn, and these poems reflect faith and spirituality,  and concerns about illness and the meaning of suffering from a woman's perspective. Dr. Nicholson was in the Peace Corps in Paraguay, in 1972-74, before she became a physician.  Some of these poems are dedicated to Paul Farmer MD, who is a deeply gifted and caring physician working in Haiti and other 3rd world countries.  Dr. Nicholson's father was a painter;  she grew up watching him paint landscapes.  Some poems are an attempt to paint pictures with words. Many poems are concerned with the meaning of our work, and of human life.  Her first book is entitled My Throat is Full of Songbirds and was also published by Old Mountain Press. PRACTICING GYNECOLOGY

Sometimes it is a quick lube-job;
Check the spark plugs,
Smile and nod,
Out the door.

Sometimes I am standing
Like the Angel Gabriel
With a Doppler in my hand;
Being the Annunciation.
